Jemila Abdulai is Head, Digital & E-commerce at Stanbic Bank Ghana (SBG). She is responsible for engaging stakeholders along the digital platforms value chain and driving functionality for Consumer and High Net Worth (CHNW) Clients. Working in alignment with platform enablers and internal stakeholders in technology, client segments and client journeys, Jemila leads the team towards improved digital penetration and adoption in line with the overarching SBG and CHNW strategy with expanded financial inclusion as a key priority.
She has over 15 years of experience in strategic communications, digital media, business and policy. In her previous role as Lead Consultant for Circumspecte, Jemila provided research, strategy and policy advisory services for Africa-oriented organisations and professionals looking to thrive with digital.
Through her engaging career and digital skills workshops, she has guided over 2,500 Africans including women entrepreneurs to leverage digital technologies for their brands and businesses, and to jumpstart their own careers in the digital arena. In recognition of her efforts towards driving financial inclusion with digital transformation, she received the ‘2021 Digital Skills Champion’ award for Ghana by the Digital Equality Coalition.
Jemila is a former consultant with the African Development Bank group in Tunisia and Côte d’Ivoire. She holds an M.A. in International Economics and International Affairs from Johns Hopkins SAIS, and a B.A. in both Economics and French from Mount Holyoke College, USA.
